Beauty And The Dirt x Gu Salted Caramel Chocolate Souffles

Earlier this month I was lucky enough to win the amazing prize of two Gu salted caramel chocolate souffles, as created by Colette, sister of the blogging legend Krista Madden of Beauty and the Dirt. I absolutely love, love, love salted caramel and Gu puddings, so to me this was an absolute dream prize, but I never in a million years thought I'd win until the email dropped into my inbox! It was however a lovely surprise to get on a Thursday morning :)

The puddings took a little over a month to arrive but eventually I was in possession of two delicious-sounding desserts (plus a cool bag, which funnily enough my fiance was more excited about than the puddings!) and I couldn't wait to try them. They were really easy and simple to prepare as well - just 15 minutes in the oven, so I could just pop them in whilst I was eating my dinner and then have them for afters. And then it was just waiting impatiently for them to cool (funnily enough, glass is hot when it's been in the oven!).

But, of course, it's all in the tasting, and on that front it didn't disappoint. As I said, I'm a big salted caramel fan, and these were perfect - just enough salt in the caramel to bring out the lovely flavour, which balanced really well against the chocolate souffle top. The souffle had a lovely crunch when I put my spoon into it but was also wonderfully fluffy, and had a lovely richness but without being too sweet. I shamelessly wolfed mine down and never wanted them to end. Considering it went from this...

to this...
in about three minutes, I think it's safe to say they were good!

Sadly I wish I'd kept hold of them a little longer as they were so tasty, but they were definitely worth it. My only disappointment now is sadly that they're not a permanent part of the Gu line otherwise I think I'd be a bit obsessed with them by now. But at least my bank balance and my waistline can rest easy!

Do you like salted caramel? Have you tried any other GU puddings? And if you could create your own dessert, what would it be? Let me know in the comments and have a great day!
